Swimming - - The popular swimming pool is open from Memorial Day week and closes on Labor Day weekend.

Hiking - - Over 25 miles of trails provede a challenge for even the serious hiker. Included is "The Spotted Slamander" trail, a paved, level walkway with Braille interpretive nature stations designed for both visually impaired and physically challenged guests. Mountain bikes are allowed on certain trails, and during the winter, these trails are suitable for cross-country skiing.

Picnicking - - Numerous picnic sites and nine shelters are provided for the enjoyment of visitors. These sites offer tables, grills, drinking water, and toilet facilities.

Horseback Riding - - The stables are open year-round, offering rental horses for bridle trails, hay and sleigh rides. The Stable phone number is (304) 342-3751.

Playgrounds - - Children's playgrounds are located in the various picnic areas.

Hunting/Fishing - - Properly licensed individuals are welcome to hunt or fish in-season, in specified areas. No hunting zones surround all forest recreational facilities.

Shooting Range - - The forest range is open daily and is free to the public.

Camping - - Overnight visitors enjoy the forest's 46-site, fully equipped camping area. The campground is served by a bathhouse and coin-operated laundry facilities, and all sites have fireplaces and picnic tables. In addition, 25 sites feature electricity and water hookups. Firewood and ice are available.
